annur is a faith-driven, community-centered non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through education, Islamic values, and social responsibility. Established in 2001 and officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2006, annur serves as a vital resource for communities across Cape Town, with a strong presence in Gugulethu, Crossroads, Schaapkraal, and Gatesville.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that access to quality Islamic education and holistic personal development can create lasting change in individuals and their communities.
Under the leadership of Shaykh Mohamed Helal (Director) and Shaykh Ahmed Elsayed (Principal), annur continues to grow in impact and reach—empowering the next generation of Muslims through faith, knowledge, and service.
From humble beginnings in 2001, annur has expanded its reach and programming through five key centers:
These institutions form the backbone of our educational and community outreach efforts, providing safe, nurturing environments for learning and spiritual growth.
We have also launched a Leadership Academy—a unique initiative that combines Islamic education with life skills and leadership training for male and female learners.
At annur, we believe in the transformative power of education and the guiding light of Islam. Our programs aim to:
To build a generation of spiritually grounded, morally upright, and intellectually empowered individuals who will become positive change-makers within their communities.
To uplift and develop youth and communities through holistic education, leadership training, and sustainable support services rooted in Islamic principles.

Everything we do is guided by the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

We operate with transparency, honesty, and accountability.

We serve with empathy and care, ensuring that no one is left behind.

We provide the tools, education, and support individuals need to succeed.
As we continue to grow, our focus remains on sustainability, impact, and inclusivity. We are committed to expanding our reach, improving our facilities, and deepening our programs—while staying true to the Islamic principles that shape our mission.
Together with our supporters, we are building a legacy of faith, learning, and transformation.
