Alhamdulillah! A major milestone has been reached in the annur Waqf Project — the foundation of the building is now complete, and construction is progressing rapidly.
This project is not just about bricks and cement — it’s about creating a long-term, sustainable source of income to support over 100 orphaned children at the annur educational centre in Cape Town, South Africa. The Waqf Project is a Sadaqah Jariyah initiative that will continue to benefit generations long after it’s built.
The Waqf Project is a visionary, community-driven effort to build a commercial centre on a 4,000 square meter plot in Skaapkraal, Cape Town. This commercial hub will include a supermarket and rental spaces, designed to generate sustainable monthly income to support the orphan hostels run by annur.
📍 Location: 20th Avenue, Skaapkraal, Cape Town
📐 Total Area: 4,000 m²
💰 Estimated Project Cost: R20 million
💸 Expected Monthly Income: R250,000 – R300,000
👧🏽👦🏾 Students Benefited: 100+ orphaned children
annur’s boys’ and girls’ hostels provide much more than shelter — they offer food, healthcare, Islamic education, and a nurturing environment. With the Waqf Project, we are building a self-sustaining solution to ensure these services continue for years to come.
The project will also boost the local economy by creating jobs and providing essential services to the Skaapkraal community. It’s a win-win — for orphans, families, and the broader society.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.”
(Sahih Muslim)
